Right where the Confederation Bridge meets Prince Edward Island, Borden Summerside KOA Journey in Borden-Carleton does not permit EV charging at campsites. The standard KOA line about pedestal damage applies. The consolation is that there is DC fast charging right in Borden-Carleton from FLO. Summerside is also nearby, about 12 miles away, with FLO stations. This is the first campground many travelers hit after crossing from New Brunswick, and the FLO station in town means you can top off right at the bridge landing before settling in.
Our current electrical pedestals were originally designed for non-continuous loads typical of today's RV usage, and therefore simply cannot support EV charging. Plugging your EV into a traditional 50-30 amp campground pedestal could permanently damage your vehicle as well as the campground's electrical system.
