Does Douglas Headwater Campground Allow EV Charging?
Here's what you need to know about EV charging at this RV park in Sevierville, Tennessee.
EV Charging Policy
There are currently no EV charging capabilities at our facilities. RV electrical pedestals are designed for non-continuous loads, not the constant electricity flow required to charge EV batteries.
Spread along the upper end of Douglas Lake outside Sevierville, Tennessee, Douglas Headwater Campground takes the south side of the dam where the reservoir is widest. The TVA-operated site does not allow EV charging at any pedestal, citing the wiring design: "RV electrical pedestals are designed for non-continuous loads, not the constant electricity flow required to charge EV batteries." The nearest DC fast charging is in Kodak, about 4 miles away, with Tesla Supercharger and Electrify America stations. Sevierville is also nearby, about 6 miles away, with ChargePoint stations. The Smokies' gateway towns have plenty of chargers and the Kodak stop is barely a detour off I-40.
