Does Skull Island Campground Allow EV Charging?
Here's what you need to know about EV charging at this RV park in Harrison, Tennessee.
EV Charging Policy
There are currently no EV charging capabilities at our facilities. RV electrical pedestals are designed for non-continuous loads, not the constant electricity flow required to charge EV batteries.
Skull Island Campground earns its name honestly: it sits on a real island in Chickamauga Lake outside Harrison, Tennessee, reached by a causeway off Birchwood Pike. The policy is the same Go Camp Tennessee one used at every TVA site: no charging at the pedestals, citing electrical service that is built for non-continuous loads. The nearest DC fast charging is in Chattanooga, about 7 miles away, with Electrify America, Ford BlueOval, ChargePoint, and others stations. Ooltewah is also nearby, about 7 miles away, with Electrify America stations. Greater Chattanooga has built one of the better Southeastern charger networks, so the no-on-site rule is more about the wiring than the inconvenience.
